When Did He Join PML
Nawaz Sharif joined Pakistan Muslim League (PML) in 1976. During these days, Ghulam Jilani Khan who was a senior officer in ministry also, later on, had been Chief of ISI. Ghulam Jilani was looking for a Well Professional Candidate who knows how to work in cities. Accidentally he met with an intellectual, well-qualified person, Nawaz Sharif. Jilani decided to give him authority after looking at his credential. That’s how Sharif became a Finance Minister.
In 1980, Sharif strongly supported Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq’s military government. In response to that, Zia was very pleased and responded positively by promoting him in Nawaz Sharif’s business.
Nawaz Sharif had done a great job being Finance Minister. He privatized government own industries and presented developmentally oriented budgets to the military government. He has been very determined towards his goals as well as has been very loyal to unemployment to overcome poverty.
Nominated As Chief Minister of Punjab
In 1985, Nawaz Sharif was nominated for Chief minister of Punjab. He has been very clever as he knew to keep his relations strong with the Army and ISI to keep moving forward with huge and strong support. After the death of Zia in 1988, Zia’s political party – the Pakistan Muslim League split into two factions. Nevertheless, an Election was organized in which PML, PPP, and some other parties participated and Nawaz Sharif, who was the leader of PML got success and became a Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1990. But, unfortunately, he couldn’t complete the duration and serve as Prime Minister for 3 years i.e. from 1990-1993.
Nawaz Sharif improved the nation’s infrastructure but in July 1993, Sharif was under pressure from the army forces that is the reason he resigned. Following the 1993 elections, the PPP returned to power under Benazir Bhutto. By 1996, a large-scale corruption by the Benazir Bhutto government had deteriorated the country’s economics.
In 1997, again Sharif turned to arise and PML won an overwhelming victory. This time he had taken advantage of the overwhelming victory. He made two changes i.e. President wouldn’t have any authority to terminate Prime Minister and if someone’s opponent didn’t follow the rules and regulations would be responsible for that and govt would take action against them.
Pakistan Relations in The Government of Nawaz Sharif
During the government of Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan had very strong relations with foreign countries including the Muslim world, Turkey, Europe, etc. But, due to several hypocrites, Sharif was targeted and taken over to Adiala Jail.
Later on, Musharraf assumed as Cheif executive, placed Sharif with kidnapping, attempted murder, terrorism, and corruption. Therefore, the military court convicted Sharif of a life sentence. Sharif was sentenced not to take part further in the policies of Pakistan for the next 21 years, placed in exile sent abroad, and also suffered to pay US$500,000.
23 August 2007, the Supreme Court of Pakistan permitted Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shehbaz Sharif free to return to Pakistan. Sharif returned to Pakistan in 2018.
Sharif was sworn in for an unprecedented third time as Prime Minister on 7 June 2013. According to the Panama Papers, documents leaked in 2016. It was seen that Sharif’s family holds millions of dollars of property worth and the companies located in the UK and all around the world.
On 15 April 2016, the government announced an investigation by an inquiry commission of all Pakistani named in the documents.
Court Announcement To Discharge Nawaz Sharif
Ultimately, the Court announced its decision on 28 of July 2017 and discharged Sharif to hold public office anymore, and sentenced them to 10 years in custody.
Thus, sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and her husband Safdar Awan were sentenced to prison for 7 years and one year respectively.
