Students are highly encouraged to apply for the Mext Japan Scholarships 2023. This is a fully-funded opportunity for international students to apply to bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. programs. Although IELTS/TOEFL is not necessary for this, students are required to submit an English proficiency letter instead. The grant from the Japanese government covers all major fields and courses. Mext Japan Scholarships Fully Funded 2023
Applicants are advised to read the requirements thoroughly and apply for this subsidy. All lectures will be delivered in English or Japanese language. The study period for Bachelor’s will be 4-5 years, 2-3 years for the master and 3-4 years for a Ph.D. Program. Everyone is allowed as a research student to select to study regularly or non-regular basis in graduate courses. However, the extension will be only allowed to those who have passed the entrance test for a regular degree course. Besides, students who applied for a non-regular degree course can not extend a subvention if intended.
Mext Japan Scholarships is the “Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology” are offered by the Japanese government once a year. The grant will cover all the expenditures of students and will provide a suitable environment for study. Those who dream of getting an education in Japan have a chance to make it happen. Applicants must issue English proficiency and recommendation letters from his/her institute before the application deadline. In addition, they are advised to study for the test immediately after applying. The more you study, the more likely you are to be selected.

Allowance Award Benefits
A scholarship is more likely to be terminated if a student is absent from the university for an expected period. The amounts listed below shall be paid depending on the course enrolled in. A supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen per month will be added to the monthly scholarship amount for the grantees studying or conducting research in specially designated regions. The amount of money may be subject to change each year due to the situation of the Japanese government budget.
- Non-regular students receiving the preparatory education: 143,000 yen/month
- Students enrolled in master’s or professional degree for a regular degree course: 144,000 yen/month
- Students enrolled in a doctorate on a regular degree course: 145,000 yen/month
Education Fees
MEXT Japan Scholarships will provide stipends for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at universities. However, if for any reason a student is not admitted by the university then the grantees will bear the entrance examination.
Traveling Expenses
Economy class airline tickets will be provided to grantees by the awarded country. Furthermore, selected candidates will bear his/her expenses and all costs related to domestic travel from a person’s residence to the nearest international airport. Thus, the extra costs may include airport taxes, airport usage fees, special taxes for travel, travel expenses within Japan, travel insurance expenses, carry-on luggage or unaccompanied baggage expenses, etc.
Eligibility Requirements
The following conditions must be fulfilled by the applicants to meet the criteria for the MEXT Japan scholarships.
- A country from where an applicant is submitting his/her application must have diplomatic relations with Japan
- At the time of application, applicants holding a Japanese nationality are not eligible
- Applicants should not be older than 34 years of age but certain exceptions are given
- Required good academic record
- The candidate must be willing to learn the Japanese language and adopt research studies.
- A person must not be held criminally responsible for a criminal offense

Embassy Recommendation Procedure
Applicants must read through the application guideline thoroughly and meticulously and follow the instructions. Application Forms along with a Certificate of Health and Recommendation Letter must be submitted to the Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country. Then, these documents should be printed out and filled in hand-written, typed out, or filled in with software applications and printed out. Required Documents for the MEXT Japan Scholarships
All students must download the form and fill it out immediately within a stipulated time. The following are the required documents that should be fulfilled before the deadline.
- For the Bachelor’s program, 12 years of education with a certified form is required
- For the master’s program, a transcript of a Bachelor’s with a certified form is required
- And for the Ph.D. program, a transcript of MS with a certified form is required
