First Step in Tadween E Quran
The Quran was safe in the heart of the Holy Prophet Muhammad s.a.w and his companions. It is said in a hadith by Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit R.A that I used to store the revelation verse after it has been revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Whenever a revelation was about to reveal to the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H), He feels very hot and sweating like pearls.
Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit R.A used to gather a piece of something to make sure to write it on in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) turned into the normal condition. Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit said that after done with it, I used to feel that I’m going to lose my legs and wouldn’t be able to walk anymore. After storing every single verse, the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) used to say to recite it. After the recitation, if there was any mistake then the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was used to correct it.
Although, there was no Quran compiled in a single book it was written on different things before the whole compilation of the Quran. This pattern of a compilation of the Quran was started at the beginning of Islam. It means that the entire verses of the Quran were totally safe with the companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
Seconds Step
The compilation of the Quran in the time of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique R.A
The Quran was not compiled in the time of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in a single book but it was safely written on different suitable things. In the time of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique R.A, Hazrat Umar R.A considered it to take the initiative of a compilation of the different verses which were written in the presence of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). The reason for gathering all the written verses in one book was due to the large number of martyrs in the Battle of Yamama, and to keep it safe.
Hence, the companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) started work on it under the leadership of Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit. It was announced that those who had verses in written form bring them to Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit. Thus, These verses were confirmed to be true using the following patterns.
1. First of all, these verses use to confirm by Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit R.A and Hazrat Umar R.A using their memory.
2. None of even a single verse of the verses was used to confirm until a credible witness testified that the verse was written in the presence of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
3. After being done with the compilation, Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique R.A. used to keep it to himself in his time. Then, Hazrat Umar R.A. used to keep it safe himself. The compilation of the Quran was sent to Hazrat Hafsa R.A after Hazrat Umar R.A’s martyrdom.
Third Step
Compilation of the Quran in the time of Hazrat Usman R.A
The Quran was revealed in the Arabic language and the Arabians used to recite it first. So, it was not difficult for them to recite. They were familiar with each other’s accents. Hence, The Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) allowed them to recite seven letters.
Later on, when Islam went out of the Arab and spread into Persia. In Iran and some other different places, accents become different which led to controversy. This controversy was a real threat to the compilation of the Quran that was written by Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit R.A in the time of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique R.A. On the other hand, people could engage in persecution. Therefore, it was taken into consideration to spread the compilation of the Quran with seven letters in the whole world of Islam to decide which is right and which one is wrong. This decision was taken and successfully done by Hazrat Usman R.A in his time. It is narrated in this way, Hazrat Huzaifa bin Yamaan R.A was busy in a Jihad. He saw that the people living there have a controversy among each other with the accents in Quran. He immediately went back and intimated Hazrat Usman R.A about the scenario.
Thus, Hazrat Usman R.A. gathered all the companions and discussed this issue. Hence, everybody agreed with the decision taken by Hazrat Usman R.A. It was about to make a large number of copies of the compiled Holy Book. Then, Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit R.A, Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair R.A, Hazrat Saeed bin Aas R.A, and Hazrat Abdul Rehman bin Haris were there to deal with all these. Of this, the Quraysh accent was instructed to be used if any contradiction occurred. As a result, this is how the Holy Quran was compiled.
