Why is Khushdil Shah Trending as Parchi in Pakistan?
Khushdil Shah is a Pakistani cricket player (left-handed), born on February 7, 1995, in Bannu. He played PSL (Pakistan Super League) as an emerging player known as a powerful hitter for striking dominantly in the bowl, especially in the final overs. He has been the best All-Rounder in the tournament in PSL-7. The left-handed batsman’s performance in the domestic led to his being selected for the international team squad by the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board).
Although the left-handed middle-order batsman showed his talent and hit 3 big sixes in a row against West Indies and 4 sixes in the final over against Hong Kong. Unfortunately, he failed to perform well in the Asia Cup and against England throughout the series. Pakistani fans had high expectations from the youngster in a pressure situation where he failed to show his potential leading to people chanting “parchi” at him. People in Pakistan believe that a young player’s name has been added to the team squad on the basis of a reference rather than merit.

Since the 2022 Asia Cup, Pakistan is facing some issues with the performance of their middle order for not coming in enough runs where needed. Mohammad Rizwan and the skipper Babar Azam are the only players so far who are scoring runs and facing most of the overs. Due to the crisis in the middle orders, the openers duo doesn’t take much risk in hitting sixes to save wickets. Therefore, the fans also seldom bully these two players for not scoring much runs in the first six overs (powerplay). Not scoring more runs in the first six overs of powerplay puts pressure on the middle orders and they fail to execute well to manage a good total score.
Chief Selector of Pakistan Cricket Muhammad Wasim shuffled the middle orders and tried to replace players to get a positive result which hasn’t worked yet. They are working hard on it to overcome this problem before the World Cup and be ready to win.
